When we tell people we have some sassy piggies at home, more often than not, we get the "Oh I had one once. They're kind of boring."

Boring? Clearly, they were keeping them wrong.

Our cavy stalk us from their cages. They know our schedules better than we do - they know when we come home, they shout at us as we are walking out the door that we forgot to give them a treat, and they can smell you peeling an orange from 50 feet away - with a wall and a countertop between you. They are alarm systems for the midnight trips for leftovers out of the fridge.

And goodness forbid you touch a plastic bag. It could be a swimsuit in a Walmart bag - but that telltale rattle sounds like 5lbs of tasty carrots to them.

They learn their names, they can learn tricks (don't belive me? http://www.guineapigagility.com/ is a place to see piggies playing Tic Tac Toe, Dominoes, Pin the Tail on the Donkey - even putting a doll to bed. They are amazing!) and they are perfect apartment pets for those that want a companion that is interactive and intellegent.
