Welcome to the Duman's Ark!
We thank God that He lead you to visit!
You'll soon find that we have many interests; our Faith, our pets, our Family History, and our Art.
If you've been with us before you'll notice that we lost our beautiful website when we switched hosts - but don't despair! We're recreating it, one cherished photo and funny pet-related story at a time! Thanks for your patience during the construction, and please enjoy your stay at DUMANS ARK.

July 2010
Things are changing fast here - the chicks are 4 months old now and are about ready to lay; their mothers are going broody AGAIN - for some hens, this is the third time they've sat and raised a brood this year alone - wow!
Another rat litter (pretty blues!) were born. We're deciding who to keep from the pairing - nice colors, awesome temperments and ear sets.
We now have a new harlequin buck (yay!) so we are considering finding Cooper a new home. He's such a sweetheart - we just don't know if we'll keep him on as a mascot or not.
We have blueberries from our wild patch! They are delicious - the theiving goats think so too! =)
June 12th, 2010
We got our first garden-fresh tomato today! Mmmmm! Tasty. =)
The animals are adapting to the warmer (oh, so much warmer!) weather, and we're putting out feelers for an unrelated ADGA registered Alpine buck for our dairy herd... so if anyone has one for stud or sale - drop us a line.
May 24, 2010
Boy, the weather sure is warming up. The tomatoes have sprouted little green 'maters, the strawberry plant has already produced several berries, and the corn is up almost 4"! Yay!
Another litter of Astrex rabbits born! Seven in the litter, and it looks like there are three with a blue sheen (they'll be blue or opal) so that's very exciting.
The chickens are going broody in droves too - it truly must be spring.
May 2010
WE SAW HIM! Or her. A coyote - or a wolf. Three people, BROAD DAYLIGHT and all we know is it was definitly NOT a dog!
It was after the guineas - we went out to see what all the commotion was it and just stood there. Watching us. Then the dogs took after it and man, the beautiful creature nearly flew over the grass.
Beautiful, deadly creature. Our poor flock is dwindling.
May 2010
OH NO! Ross, our beautiful peacock is missing.
This is very upsetting.
One of our Sebastopol geese is gone too - we were hoping she'd just gone off to lay her eggs elsewhere, but this doesn't ease our mind much either - she's easy pickings if she, a white, frilly goose, is off in the dark green and brown of the forest.
May 2010
We found guinea fowl feathers - too many. In a pile. And another pile. And strewn across the woods. Not surprisingly, we can't seem to find all of our guineas. Oh dear.
May 1st 2010
A sad beginning this month. A dear family member passed away a few days ago - a strong, humorous, and wise man, he was very gifted with animals, and had a charisma about him that gained him many a human friend as well.
He will be sorely missed; and yet, he is better off in Heaven. Certainly in pain no longer, and is probably shepherding a big herd of olde fashioned Hamp sheep - with a black-tongued dog at his side (he always said you could tell if it was a good dog by looking for black on the tongue =)
And what do you know - our dogs have bits of black on their tongues!
Maybe there is something to that after all...
April 2010
Ahhhhh! April showers will hopefully bring more than flowers. We are busy at work with our garden, and loving it!
The animals always do too - it's a family activity with the dogs digging along side us, the goats checking our work, the llama deciding disaproving of all the dirt, and the chickens trying to get over the garden fence to dig up the freshly planted seeds.
Spring! It is so much fun. =)
March 9th, 2010
The first Sebastopol Goose egg of the year was laid!!! YAY!!!
Generally, the first few eggs laid are not fertile, so we let the dogs have it.
They LOVE to play with these big eggs!

March 2010 - It's official.
Spring has arrived!
=)
Pigeons are hatching, rabbits are kindling, geese are laying, goat kids are bounding - and the weather outside is warm! (Well, compared to what is has been anyway ;)
So warm we've really enjoyed our outdoor adventures even more than normal - We've been searching for oak tree branches naturally felled that we can send to MarnasMenagerie.com - they are going to use them as shafts for their cart-wagon pulling goats!
The dogs are only too happy to assist us in this search.

(Above: Annabelle let's her kids, Hailey and Holly, use her as a playground)
Feb 25th, 2010 - SPRING KIDDING!!!
We now have ten ADORABLE goat kids!!!
Our kidding season is finished for the year, and we have EIGHT doelings! Eight! That's fantastic!
See their pictures on the goats page.
Wonderful rabbits Addy, Abby, Ally, Carmel, Lillith, Florida, and Muffin have all had litters! So cute!
